概要 This presentation discussed how the teenage brain is still developing and is only 80% fully mature. The pre-frontal cortex that controls executive functions in the brain completes its development in the mid-twenties. This explains why teenagers are self-absorbed and in need of acceptance and approval by their peers. It also is the reason why they take certain risks but avoid other risky situations. And it accounts for their obsession with and vulnerability when using social media. They are also far more susceptible to addictions to tobacco, alcohol, and online activities. The presenter offered advice to teachers and parents of teenagers.
