概要 | Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman explained in his 2012 book Thinking, Fast and Slow that our brains operate at two speeds and in two modalities. We think quickly, intuitively, and effortlessly almost all the time. This is “fast thinking” and is essential for our survival. “Slow thinking” is the deliberate thinking that requires time, conscious effort, and energy. In order to conserve energy, our fast-thinking mind sends suggestions, impressions, and feelings to our slow-thinking mind for endorsement. Most of the time, our slow-thinking mind is willing to accept this information and we believe our impressions and act on our desires. This is a very energy efficient system, but there are flaws in our “fast thinking” which can lead teachers to evaluate student work unfairly and students to make unnecessary mistakes in assignments and exams. The speaker explained what these weak points are and how teachers and students can address them. |
