| 概要 | Although profanity is an integral part of human communication in spoken and signed languages, as well as in social media messaging these days, it is not included in language courses and teaching materials. This presentation compared the use of profanity and various degrees of taboo in English-speaking cultures and in cultures where other languages are spoken. It also discussed situations in which language students are likely to encounter profanity and ways in which to introduce this form of speech in the classroom. A brief discussion of the complexity of the grammar of profanity was also included. |
