概要 Research at the intersection of digital humanities and Islamic studies is expanding, with publications like The Digital Humanities and Islamic & Middle East Studies exploring the application of digital tools in fields such as history and literature. New journals like the Journal of Digital Islamicate Research further this trend. In Japan, the collaborative work of editors Emiko SUNAGA and Wakako KUMAKURA resulted in the publication of Isuramu Dejitaru Jinbungaku (Digital Islamicate Studies) by Jimbun Shoin in 2024. This book combines Islamic studies with digital humanities, exploring the intersection of technology and research in the context of Islam. Ethical considerations and collaborative efforts are crucial in leveraging digital transformations in Islamic studies. Projects like DREAMSEA in Indonesia not only digitize endangered manuscripts but also focus on community engagement and education. However, challenges remain, such as the dominance of Western scholars in digital humanities and the nascent academic infrastructure in Middle Eastern countries. Overcoming these challenges will require continued interdisciplinary collaboration and exploration, aiming to uncover new discoveries and foster mutual understanding in the field.
